Get it done right the first time.

Leak Detectives have been finding and repairing leaks in

residential swimming pools and spas throughtout Southern Ontario

since 2000.

Your pool will naturally lose some water to evaporation, some to splash-out and some to backwash waste water. You may also gain water from rainfall.  If you are routinely adding more than two inches of water to your pool per week, you may have a leak.  It is worth spending some time and money to be sure.

You may have a pool or spa leak if . . .

You lose 3mm of water or more in 24 hours. Perform a Bucket Test (see below).

You find algae forming too soon after a chemical treatment.

You find wet areas or cracks forming on the pool deck. (All are signs that the surrounding ground is being compromised by water.)

Your pool/spa has settled into the ground or cracks and gaps appear in the pool shell or concrete deck.

You find standing water, mushy spots, or uneven grass growth around the pool/spa area.

HOW TO IDENTIFY A POOL LEAK

To find out if you do have a leak in your swimming pool, fill a bucket with water from the pool and set it on the steps of your pool with the top of the bucket above water level. This will keep the water in the bucket the same temperature as the pool. Now mark the water levels for future erference. If you do not have steps, you can try balancing the bucket on the top ladder tread.

Now, compare the water loss between the bucket and your pool over a period of several days, the longer the better. We are assuming that your bucket doesn't have a hole in it! If you see a difference, you have a leak.
